The Course was focused on bringing the education and training closer to the operational needs and responding to the gaps between theory and practice with aim of enhancing the standards of practical work in the security sector in Southeast Europe.

The Course brought together 20 education and training professionals in the security sector from the Western Balkan region and engaged them in week-long intensive learning activities, where they got introduced to the modern learning and teaching methods and practices, and also to the relevant topics in the field of management of irregular migration and countering of serious and organized crime.

The Course covered two specific aspects (modules):

1. Education and training:

This part of the Course provided the learners with specific knowledge on the principles, methods and specifics of adult learning including specific tools for efficient transfer of knowledge.

2. Specific topic of interest – where the aim was to provide the learners with insight on the specific phenomenon related to countering serious and organised crime. Here the participants were divided into two thematic areas:

a) Management of Irregular migration and countering the accompanying forms of Serious and Organised Crime

b) Illicit trafficking of cultural goods.

The 6th Train-the-Trainers Course was organised within the framework of a project granted by the GIZ.

In order to best achieve the overall aim of the events, the activity was organised together with the Regional train the trainers course on detecting illicit trafficking of cultural goods, within the framework of a project granted by Royal Norwegian Government.

The Course was concluded with a formal closing ceremony on 7th December, where representatives of DCAF Ljubljana awarded successful participants with Course Certificates.
