Andermatt, Switzerland - During 8-14 August 2016, 42 professional teachers and trainers in security sector education and training institutions from 20 European countries successfully concluded the 5th Annual Train-the-Trainers Summer Course in Andermatt, Switzerland. The Course is supported by the Swiss Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sports, and hosted by the Andermatt Military Mountaineering Centre. The intensive one-week Course aims to equip national institutions with new knowledge and experience on modern teaching and learning methods tailored to the needs of the security sector, and was this year focusing specifically on the tools and methods of learning in the digital environment. The Andermatt setting with its unique possibilities for learning team-building methods, such as climbing, as well as the  opportunity for our participants to stay at the military compound for the entire week again enabled the perfect working environment, strongly encouraging team spirit, team work and exchanging of experience. The annual Course, unique in its wide geographical scope, overall aim and focus, is organised by DCAF Ljubljana under the auspices of the DCAF Border Security Programme, in cooperation with EU agencies Cepol and Frontex. The Course is implemented in two levels - Basic and Advanced, and executed by DCAF experts and externally engaged trainers from Estonia and Slovenia. The Course was concluded with a formal closing ceremony on 13th August, where representatives of DCAF and the Military Mountaineering Centre Andermatt awarded successful participants with Course certificates.
